*On the #5 line, BYU can only play in the Spokane pod. This means that a Big Ten team (Penn State, Ohio State or Michigan) must be in the same pod as Michigan State. Although this would usually break the rules, Ohio State is actually allowed to be in the same pod as Michigan State, as the two will have only met once this season (excluding a possible meeting in the conference tournament). This is preferred to moving around seed lines.

**Providence is ranked ahead of Wichita State in the true seed list, but Wichita State is pushed up to the last #10 seed, and Providence is pushed down to the first #11 seed, as the presence of a Big East team (Creighton, Seton Hall, Butler, Marquette) in each of the four 7/10/2/15 pods makes it impossible for Providence to be on the #10 line.
